The sweet balsamic aroma of Sandalwood (Santalum album) is a favourite of many, so much so that oil producers cannot keep up with demand. A sandalwood tree must be at least thirty years of age before the essential oil can be extracted, hence why it is expensive. Sandalwood heals on an emotional, physical and spiritual level.

Traditional Use
Throughout antiquity, the popularity of Sandalwood reigns supreme even to this day. The wood was used in carvings, furniture and temples, the essential oil for urinary infections, respiratory complaints, digestive disorders and skin conditions. Sandalwood powder was and still is used extensively in incense. The fragrance of Sandalwood is considered sacred and is a popular ingredient in perfumes.

Creates a sensual and serene ambiance. Gives a sense of enlightenment, inner wisdom and meditation. Promotes a centered and open environment.

Therapeutic
To help relieve insomnia, nervous tension and stress. Add 6 drops to 10ml base oil or base cream and apply to pressure points. Alternatively add 6 drops to 10ml Vegetable Glycerine and add mixture to bath.

For the temporary relief of bronchial cough and sore throat, add 6 drops to 1 litre of steaming water, cover head with towel and inhale for 5 minutes. If cough persists, consult a health care professional.

Relief of symptoms of catarrh and laryngitis. Add 6 drops to 1 litre of steaming water, cover head with towel and inhale for 5 minutes.

Skin and Hair Care
Treatment of acne. Add 3 drops to 10ml of base cream and apply to affected area.
