Raspberry is often known to people as a popular fruit available during summer. These berries have been used in wines, liquors, vinegars, syrups and for other culinary and some cosmetic purposes. A tea made of raspberry leaves is mild, soothing and pleasant to taste.
A number of American Indian tribes are known to have used this plant for medicinal purposes. Today it is classified by herbalists as an astringent due to its tannin content. As an astringent or drying herb it can be useful for conditions such as diarrhoea. It can also be used as a gargle for inflammation and conditions of the mouth and throat.
