Beta-sitosterol, possibly the most important of the three compounds found in Pygeum, interferes with the formation of prostaglandins that cause inflammation and swelling in the prostate.
Pentacyclic terpenes also reduce swelling.
And ferulic esters combat enlargement by reducing levels of prolactin, a hormone which promotes uptake of growth-promoting testosterone in the prostate.

Beta-sitosterol is the most abundant phytosterol in the diet. It is also widely distributed in the plant kingdom and found in such botanicals as Serenoa repens (saw palmetto), Curcurbita pepo (pumpkin seed) and Pygeum africanum. It has come to our attention that a company we used to supply with HealthWise? MENZ has attempted to duplicate our product, however please be aware there are some very important differences:

• HealthWise? MENZ is a soft gel capsule which contains concentrated herbal extracts in liquid form to optimise absorption. This ensures stability of the herbal concentrates, as it excludes any contact with oxygen or light.
  
• HealthWise? MENZ contains LYC-O-MATO? which is a patented lycopene. It is natural and NOT synthetic. This is also one of the easiest for your body to absorb. LYC-O-MATO??is in a base of tomato oil which can only be delivered in a soft gel capsule.

Note: Natural Lycopene is very expensive and not often used by manufacturers in this form.
